Scoliosis
Scoliosis is an abnormal sideways curvature of the spine. It can occur in different positions of the spine but typically results in postural distortion that may become a permanent deformity. If left alone and allowed to advance, it may interfere with your vital organs.
Some people have a genetic predisposition for scoliosis, habitual behavioral routines that cause it, or an idiopathic unknown cause. Regardless of the cause, the earlier it is detected the better.
If severe enough, bracing or surgery to attach steel rods to force the spine straight are used.
Chiropractic may help improve the function and the structure of the spine. As the muscles begin to receive messages from your brain through your nervous system properly, posture and spinal structure may be improved.
If you notice that your child has a high shoulder, low hip, back pain, leg pain, or walk unevenly, don’t hesitate to call and schedule a consultation!
